Embracing Contemporary Theories

Education

We require a paradigm shift in our interpretation of physical and mental illnesses.

We embrace transformative theories by visionaries like Peter Sterling, Joseph Eyer, Dr. Bruce McEwen, Dr. Lisa Feldman-Barrett, and Dr. Carl Friston. Allostasis, predictive regulation, affect neuroscience, and free energy principles become our compass, leading us beyond the limitations of homeostasis and the classical view of emotions.

We can no longer separate our experiences and exposures from the physiological adaptations in mind and body. Our predictive systems are resilient and adaptive, therefore our practical application of movement and mind body intervention require adaptation. Here we are aiming to bridge the gap between research to practice with a contemporary lens to trauma-informed care.

Regul8 is more than a platform; it's a community. Health professionals, students, researchers, and those with lived experiences converge here for a shared mission—to reshape the narrative of health. A paradigm shift demands collaboration and open dialogue, and that's precisely what you'll find within our vibrant community.

I became an Exercise Physiologist because I was driven by the profound joy of accompanying individuals on their health journeys. For me, it's more than a profession; it's a commitment to being part of something both challenging and remarkably rewarding.

Choosing to become an Exercise Physiologist was a natural step—a decision rooted in the enjoyment of connecting with people as they navigate their paths to health. Every challenge, every triumph, is a shared experience, and it's this camaraderie that fuels my passion.

Driven by a commitment to continuous improvement, I pursued a Master of Mental Health. This journey wasn't just a professional step forward; it was a personal exploration of emotions. It was a conscious effort to open myself up emotionally, preparing to hold space not only for my clients but also for my newly born daughter as she embarks on her life's journey.

I want us collectively to take a step forward in physical and mental healthcare. We require a paradigm shift in theoretical foundations. An update in our language and understanding of the physiological adaption to life. A life with or without protective factors or coping strategies in the face of adversity tells the tale of resilience and strength.

A step toward models of care that align with contemporary science.
